ABOUT US
Dr. Traci Patnode DVM, MS, CCRT, cVMA
I have been a practicing Associate Veterinarian since 2006. In July of 2020 my senior dog, Jack began to deteriorate with failing mobility and a painful condition. He required care that I could not personally provide. I took him to our local Veterinary Rehabilitation Specialists where he received treatments for over a year that gave him a new lease on life with improved mobility and improved pain control. The remaining two years of his life were filled with many days where he could enjoy hiking and swimming, his favorite activities.
In January of 2024, inspired by Jack and many of my patients, I made the decision to invest in the additional education to obtain the credentials in order to provide this service and to renew my joy and passion for my profession.
Ohio is underserved in trained professionals who can provide Canine Physical Rehabilitation. There is a very large population of dogs, ranging from seniors with failing mobility to athletes with multiple needs (injury recovery, fitness, conditioning) as well as those experiencing post-surgical recovery who would benefit from this service. Since most practice models do not easily fit Rehabilitation, this is something I have decided to pursue. Inspired by the knowledge that many patients needing this service may be difficult for owners to present to clinics, a mobile practice is ideal in order to serve this need. A niche that is very much needed is one that provides mobile Canine Rehabilitation Medicine, which is the niche that Veterinary Rehabilitation Medicine of Ohio will fill.
FEAR FREE PROFESSIONAL
Fear Free certification is a commitment that additional education has been pursued to ensure that interactions with your pet are done in a way to minimize stress, fear, and anxiety. This is a respectful/calming/healing approach to interactions with your canine and it includes veterinarian, patient, as well as you. In addition, this certification is maintained to ensure the most current Fear Free practices are followed. You will be an integral part of the care team and these practices will be shared with you as we provide care to your companion and/or athlete.
